DC WIN adds a giving spirit to Cocktails and Dreams Networking Event
Networking organization collecting items from Homeless Children’s Charity ‘wish list’
Washington, DC (December 1, 2009) On Friday, December 11, 2009 from 6:30pm – 9:30pm, DC WIN will host it’s monthly Cocktails and Dreams networking event at Mio Restaurant located at 1110 Vermont Avenue, NW DC. Join one of the District's burgeoning networking organizations for a holiday toy drive to collect gifts on behalf of the Homeless Children’s Playtime Project, a non-profit that aims to meet the needs of homeless children in the metropolitan area.
DC WIN is reaching out to bring together talented and likeminded urban professionals and encourage the holiday spirit of giving. Soup kitchens feed the hungry, clothing drives support those in need, but all too often, homeless children are forgotten during the holiday season. This population has one of the most simple, yet reoccurring needs, the space to play freely, develop critical socialization skills, and to forget, if only for a short time, the trauma of homelessness.
Help us to brighten the day of a homeless child by purchasing a gift from the Homeless Children’s Playtime Projects’ wish lists to drop off at the event. To purchase, visit ToysRUS.com [link] (Registry #44689953) or Target.com [link] (Registry ID - 014399700817213). More detailed information can be found here or at the Homeless Children’s Playtime Project website. Cash donations will also be accepted that evening and a representative from the organization has been invited to attend.
